Friends of St Helen's Church

St Helens Church is the oldest building in Northwich and is the town’s most significant building in terms of both architecture and history. St Helens has been a focus for the life of Northwich for more than 600 years. It is a Grade I listed building, putting it in the top 2% of historic buildings in England. The Friends group logo

Our Vision Project aims to re-establish St Helens as a major facility and central hub in the life of the town. Following a widespread community consultation we have increased the type and range of activities to include concerts, exhibitions, mums and toddlers group, Saturday opening for casual visitors and community coffee mornings. We have commissioned architects and landscape architects to design new facilities at St Helens and to re-landscape the churchyard to make it the most beautiful space in Northwich.

Our FRIENDS OF ST HELENS Group was established in the autumn of 2015. The purpose of the Friends Group is to offer the opportunity for people who do not attend church to support these activities and by doing so to strengthen the role of St Helens as a community hub so it is once more a central element in the life of the town. Potential activities include help with practical tasks, for example manning the church for increased opening, gardening, administration, promotion, communication, fundraising, financial planning and management, cleaning and maintenance.
